It was brought to ATX's attention that the algorithim used to count total flight services is different in the 7210.3 and the CAATS portal. ATP/ATX will be making a decision in the near future as to what the actual algorithim should be. This brought about a lot of confusion due to the fact that we are currently reporting 2 traffic counts. The official traffic count in accordance with the 7210.3 and the reclassification count. ATX reported on a telcon, that the reclassification count is dead. In a subsequent telcon they corrected their statement and said a final decision has not yet been made. However, the reclassification data count, ie: P1,P2 and N1 data, will no longer be reported on the CAATS portal. To help with some of this confusion, this in no way affects the official traffic count we have been using in accordance with the 7210.3 for the white book. It does bring up some discussion on the possibility of changing the 7210.3 algorithm count to include some of these services so we have an accurate count of what our "total flight services" actually are. ATP and ATX will be meeting with NAATS to discuss this issue. ANY QUESTIONS ...PLEASE CONTACT DONNA HOLMES ....DONNA.HOLMES@FAA.GOV OR 202-267-9166.
